You've missed many , many places...one of which is Copan ruins in Honduras....they compare to Your number 2 Explore the Inca Ruins of Matchu Picchu ,Peru. As someone I forgot the name put it,talking about the two sites,Copan is to Matchu Picchu like Paris is to New York.
Personally, i do not agree with your list....there are many cities in South and central America worth being on your list: granada de Nicaragua, Antigua de Guatemala, panajachal in Guatemala,the mitada del mundo ,Loja , cuenca de Ecuador, casco viejo de panama , the canal de panama,the death road near La Pas in Bolivia, salar de uyuni also in bolivia...and the list could go on indefinitely ....
Your list as is subjective as is the list I have compiled above...I believe that travellers do not have the same interests so what i believe is interested to see or do, other travellers think it is not worth the trouble....

A wallet with a strap that hangs around your neck and/or a pocket sewn in the inside of your pants. Neither can be pickpocketed in secret, so they would have to assault you to get the money.

This is very true, if you do buy a DSLR for traveling at least give yourself time to learn how to use it properly. Although owning a DSLR is a case of always learning and trying new things.

Just remember that tipping is a big part of American culture so it is
expected that you leave at least a 10% tip for service and more for
exceptional service.

Personally I prefer a Point and Shoot camera for travelling. I am self aware about my abilities as a photographer. I have learnt to better frame photos, but I have no interest in learning about apertures and exposures. As a result I will not get value out of a DSLR camera, and I hate the extra size and weight you have to carry for the DSLR option.

My husband is a keen amateur photographer and I have seen his journey to become a better photographer. As a result I cringe when I hear people say that they plan to buy a DSLR camera just prior to heading off on a vacation so they can 'take better photos...'.
